👣  7-20 KM (4 to 12 miles) HIKING' - Uphill +200m/+400m  600/1200 feets)

A surprising excursion full of magic through Estérel Mountains including some train rides through the heart of one of the most beautiful coastlines in France. Mysteriously preserved from mass tourism, this site with its sublime landscapes has managed to keep its authenticity. A perfect opportunity to learn about 2nd World War history (D-Day in Provence), the destiny of the famous writer Saint-Exupéry (author of the world-famous bestseller The Little Prince) and to make some short hikes in an idyllic environment where the flamboyant red cliffs plunge into the intense blue of the Mediterranean (water sports are possible to explore its most intimate corners).

You'll enjoy a unique experience starting from Cannes (or Nice) during a day trip that includes short train runs (with on-board commentary by our Local Guide) that will amaze you with its route through viaducts and tunnels, witnesses of French civil engineering at the beginning of the 20th century. We'll discover wonderful 360° panoramas overlooking Cannes, the Lérins Islands and the Maures' Mountains. Experience an exciting escape in the heart of Var department through a splendid itinerary along the Corniche (Golden Route from Cannes to Fréjus). Passing through this Historic Route, a technical feat of French automotive development, you'll be amazed by heavenly coves, breathtaking panoramas & stunning villas built into the rock facing the seafront.

Once we arrive at the station, we'll follow a refreshing path through rocky landscapes with a thousand shades of colours, where you'll be overwhelmed by the marine scents and the specific flora of the Massif de l'Estérel. You'll be surprised by the lesser-known history of the Second World War as we will stop at the famous D-Day beach in Provence. We'll also see 2 lakes close to the sea formed by ancient rare stone quarries (possibility to visit the small Museum of the Quarries). For less sporty ones, we can catch a small train on the road to a modern village overlooking the sea (from early April to late September). Then, during a second short hike, the coastline will be revealed on an even more spectacular light, with jagged ochre rocks that looks wild and unspoilt, where stands out from the landscape a Mysterious Island...

Lunch will be a typical local picnic. You'll be served with fresh seasonal produces on a fabulous spot by the sea (RESTAURANT OPTION AVAILABLE).

In the afternoon, we'll visit an intriguing Renaissance Castle with its majestic architecture, special history and fantastic sculptures ( depending on opening days and availability) before finishing the day in style with a walk through a delightful stretch of coastline and its wonderful little creeks (with bathing/snorkeling and/or water sports possible, depending on the season).
